About T. H. Peek, Publisher

T. H. Peek, Publisher began publishing educational books and materials in 1966. The company was founded on the philosophy of providing instructors with materials tailored to their classes, and students with outstanding, relevant, and affordable texts.

T. H. “Gus” Peek brought a wealth of experience to his business. Growing up in Iowa, he first honed his fine instincts for publishing by working on the newspaper of his small town. After completing his degree in journalism, he worked for newspapers throughout the country, eventually settling in Palo Alto, California, where he started his own publishing company. His development and editing skills have been a key factor in our authors successfully transforming their original classroom material into widely used texts.

During more than forty years of educational publishing, T. H. Peek partnered with inspired and innovative instructors in disciplines as diverse as anthropology, physical education, geology and English writing skills. Our books are used in high schools and 2-year colleges nationwide.

When Gus retired in fall 2008, it was an easy transition for Jill Peek to assume ownership and the lead role. In addition to previously working in the company and having a degree in art, she has trained and worked as a developmental editor, most recently assisting clients develop text for their websites, as well as reviewing instructional materials for gardeners. While we will continue to develop texts for English skills, we expect Jill’s interests in horticulture and sustainability to drive the company once more into a range of subject areas.

Our authors continue to be active, typically classroom, instructors who have created their materials to meet the needs of their students. Texts are revised to stay up-to-date with changing student needs, teaching methodologies and new student and professional writing samples. If you are an instructor, please explore our current publications, and if you are an instructor interested in publishing for the classroom, we would be happy to hear from you.
